Alaska top 5 best day hikes (Seward, girdwood, Anchorage, hatcher pass and more) #VisitAlaska Stunning Views and a Sense of Adventure: The Anchorage Overlook Trail
The Anchorage Overlook Trail is a great way to get outside and enjoy the beauty of Anchorage without to much exertion or planning required. The trailhead is located at the Chugach State Park Visitors Center At the Glenn Alps Trail Head, at 13101 Glen Alps Rd, Anchorage, AK 99516, which is a great place to start your hike. The Visitors Center offers restrooms, water fountains, and maps of the area. The trail itself is well-marked and easy to follow.
The views from the trail are incredible. On a clear day, you can see for miles. The Chugach Mountains loom in the distance, and the city of Anchorage spreads out below. The views are especially stunning in the fall when the leaves are changing color. The trail is rated as easy, but it is not overly difficult. There are a few uphill sections, but nothing that is too strenuous. The trail is well-maintained and wide enough for two people to hike side-by-side.
